Pray for Your Children

Praying for children is a crucial part of the direction of their lives. Pray for their past, present and future. They will go through tests and experiences that will undoubtedly affect the development of their identity, and they will go through trials and victories that no one can foresee. What better way to prepare their hearts and minds for those moments than to bring them to the Lord? God can and will protect your home and your family if you bring it all to Him.
What do those prayers look like? Pray that the Holy Spirit will create in them a desire for the living God. Ask Him to keep them from darkness. Only Christ could say, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
Pray too that God will bring people into their lives who are committed to Christ and can answer their questions. Right now, they are hearing so many voices that may be cluttering the truth. They are going through such a pivotal point in life—figuring out what they believe and who they are in Christ.
Billy Graham enforces the importance that the parents must also be seeking God, just as they want their children to do. “Examine your own commitment to Christ, and make it your goal to be an example to your [children] of Christ’s transforming love. Remember: Our example often speaks louder than our words.”
